Bailey Swails, 1994-2007

Bailey died this morning, probably of a heart attack or stroke. She was lying on the back of the couch, fell as she began to convulse, then she was gone. She was quite lovey this morning, all about getting pets and giving big purrs.

The house feels empty now.

Awwww, I'm glad you had a good morning with her. Sometimes I think animals know things we don't...

Oh Kelly, I'm so sorry to hear that. I've lost three cats over the years and it's really a kick in the teeth. You've got my sympathy.

Thanks, everyone, for the kind words. I've had a few days to get used to the idea ... but I'm still sort of weepy. Today I'm not constantly on the edge of tears like I have been for the past two days, but I don't have to be pushed too hard to cry, either.

I can't help but look at the other cats like little ticking time bombs just waiting to die. Then again, that's basically what we all are, isn't it? Gotta live life, man. If it doesn't kill ya, it makes you stronger.

It feels strange to only have three cats. Ken had mentioned maybe giving a new kitty a good home ... but I think not until this summer, at least. If then.
